So Many Things to do at the Riverfront Park in Spokane

One of the most popular attractions in Washington is located in Spokane. The Riverfront Park, which was the site of Expo ’74, the World’s Fair, is a 100-acre park that has something unique to offer every member of the family. The land on which the park is located has an interesting and varied history. Native Americans once gathered and fished there, and a group of settlers in the 1800s began the city of Spokane on the grounds.

You can find countless things to do at the park that will keep you busy for days. Some of the most popular are the following.

Giant Red Wagon

The younger members of the family are going to want to check out this attraction. It is a giant red wagon, an interactive sculpture by Ken Spiering. This sculpture doubles as a slide the little ones are sure to love.

Pavilion Rides

Open on the weekends, the Pavilion Rides are a delight for folks of all ages. You can ride the Ferris Wheel, the Tilt-a-Whirl, Bumper Cars, Bumper Boats, and more. Playing and riding is a great way to spend the day with the family.

The Train

The Spokane Falls Northern Railway is a small train that provides you with a forty-minute tour that meanders through the park. It is a nice and relaxing trip, and the conductor will even teach you a bit about the history of the area and point out interesting features in the park.

Looff Carousel

One of the oldest wooden, hand carved carousels still operating, the Looff Carousel is nearly 100 years old. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a one of a kind ride. You should take a ride on the carousel simply for the historical value alone.

Miniature Golf

Everyone loves miniature golf. The Enchanted Forest course in Riverfront Park is a great place to take on your friends and family members in a friendly round of golf. The course is indoors, which means you can play no matter the weather.

Skyride

For many, the most popular attraction at the Riverfront Park is the Skyride, which takes you through the park, across the Spokane River, and under the Monroe Street Bridge. The ride takes about fifteen minutes, and operates in sunshine or rain.

People who are vacationing in Spokane or the surrounding area, and even the locals, will all find something to love at the Riverfront Park. It is a great place to have a full day of family fun.
